The Project: PEP`s Georgia Corporate Governance Project is aimed at improving the investment environment in Georgia by providing technical assistance to companies and banks, educational institutions and the government. Project activities will include training and consultations on corporate governance, as well as work on legislative reform in this area.
Scope of the job: The Financial Disclosure Specialist will be responsible for advising project client companies and banks on corporate governance and financial management, with particular emphasis on transparency and disclosure in financial reporting, and accounting and auditing practices.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide consultations to companies and banks on issues related to financial disclosure, reporting, transparency, audit, and internal controls;
- Develop project and seminar materials and tools on financial disclosure, reporting, transparency, audit and internal control issues;
- Deliver seminars/presentations to companies, banks, government, educational institutions, and the public;
- Develop contacts and manage relationships with client companies and other counterparts;
- Assist legal advisors in analyzing draft regulations related to corporate governance issues, specifically with a view towards financial disclosure, reporting, and audit issues;
- Prepare sections of donor reports, conduct research and write articles on these topics; and,
- Assist the project management in any other duties that may be required.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Master's or equivalent professional degree and at least five years of relevant experience in the financial sector, including extensive experience with an international accounting firm;
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and corporate governance;
- Work experience in the region;
- Fluent in Georgian & English, both written and oral;
- Excellent computer skills; strong communication / analytical / presentation /drafting skills; and,
- Team-oriented and well-organized, patient and sensitive to company politics, self confident & convincing, optimistic and energetic;
- International study or work experience would be an asset.
